Haru is part of a loop perpetuity of Kyouko's, where she is haunted by a force she thinks of as a spiritual "parasite" that tanks her mood and forces her to destroy her life to starve it of interest in her. She murders Haru as part of a cleansing ritual to an abandoned hokora.

In actuality, Kyouko is the parasite. After she succumbs to madness, she combs through her own life as an onlooker, becoming her own "curse" that follows her around and infects her with negativity. It was her who built the hokora in the first place.

Spiritually, Haru is just some guy. He is missing presumed dead.
